OKWUDU UGBOJU WATER PROJECT
Installation of a high-capacity solar-powered motorized borehole system with elevated storage tanks to supply clean, potable drinking water to the Okwudu Ugboju community.

About this project
The Okwudu Ugboju Water Project is an completed grassroots utility intervention facilitated by Rt. Hon. Lady Blessing Onyeche Onuh within the Otukpo Local Government Area of the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency. This clean water initiative is designed to systematically resolve the severe seasonal water scarcities faced by rural households in the Ugboju axis, reducing complete dependence on unsafe open streams and stagnant ponds. The technical layout features drilling an industrial-grade borehole deep into a reliable aquifer, powered by a fully automated solar panel installation to ensure zero fuel dependency and continuous service. The project scope includes assembling heavy-duty overhead water storage tanks and establishing multiple, strategically located community distribution tap stands. By bringing sustainable water infrastructure directly into Okwudu Ugboju, this project lowers the incidence of waterborne diseases while significantly easing the domestic labor burdens of fetching water for women and youth.
