Rural Electrification

A multi-ward energy initiative deploying 300KVA relief transformers and automated all-in-one solar street grids to eliminate blackouts and secure community night trade.

Rural Electrification

About this project

Energy poverty fundamentally limits local productivity and compromises public safety. To reverse decades of systemic power outages, Rt. Hon. Lady Blessing Onuh spearheaded the comprehensive Rural Electrification Initiative across the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency. The primary objective of this project is two-fold: structural grid revitalization and sustainable off-grid innovation. For communities bound to the municipal network, the intervention procured and installed high-capacity 300KVA transformers to relieve overloaded distribution systems and replace blown equipment in critical areas like Entekpa, Ogobia, and Otukpo Township Ward 3. Simultaneously, to protect rural economic corridors outside the immediate reach of the national grid, the project deployed "All-in-One" standalone solar grid systems throughout the Onyangede-Icho, Oglewu-Icho, and Adoka-Icho wards. This infrastructure combination powers active local market avenues well into the night, bolsters small-scale agricultural processing, and provides dependable safety for street illumination.
